Corgi Obsession!

Gwennie the Beach CorgiIn my never-ending obsession with Corgis, I was looking through Webshots and came upon this cutie! I believe she is a Welsh Corgi, not a Cardigan, but they are all so darned cute!!! I'll take them all!

Whirley Pop

Hope everyone had a Very Merry Christmas!

Ours was good. We spent Christmas Eve with friends and had dinner and played Michigan Rummy. Very fun game, we will probably be playing that again on New Years's Eve.

Christmas was very low-key for us. No extravagant gifts. Probably the most expensive item under the tree was a new digital camera for my daughter to replace the one she broke. I refused to pay over $100 for one, since it seems she doesn't know how to take care of her things, so I found one for $99! Should be a nice one, though, it is a Nikon Coolpix

I received lots of things, but one I'd like to write about is my Whirley Pop popcorn maker. I used it today and it made great popcorn, quickly. I've been making my popcorn by putting kernels into a brown paper bag and then into the microwave. Left lots of unpopped kernels. But, the WhirleyPop seemed to pop all the kernels and they popped up larger.

I doctor up my popcorn with spray butter, salt, sometimes garlic powder and parmesan cheese. Here is a picture of today's lunch!

We had another 7 or so inches of snow overnight. Enough for me to decide to not try to go out to work, and instead drive my daughter to work with my 4WD and then get things done that I needed to do. But this morning I had to take a few pictures from within the house, just to get a feel for what it was like outside.

Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas! It is actually 12:46 am here, so, officially Christmas Day. We just returned honme from dinner and Michigan Rummy with our friends. Had to check here before nodding off.

My plan today was to go to work for a short while, but there was so much snowfall overnight that I decided against it. Good thing. I had so much left to do to prepare for tonite and tomorrow, I would've never gotten it done if I had tried to work too. I had to shop for last minute small gifts and gift cards and groceries for tomorrow. (I'm making a turkey) Also spent over an hour wrapping gifts while my daughter was at work. Thought I'd have time to make a cake to take with tonite, but never did.

The point of this post is that on my way to do my shopping, everyone was out with their snowblowers and shovels. I went past a house where there were several kids working on snowmen. I made a point to go back that way when I left the store, as I had brought my camera with me. Wanted to post the picture here, I thought they came out cute!

Merry Christmas, Everyone!

Robbie Gould is my Homeboy!!!

Bears won in OT!!!

CHICAGO - Robbie Gould kicked a 38-yard field goal with 11:28 left in overtime and the Chicago Bears overcame frigid conditions and the Green Bay Packers for a 20-17 victory Monday night to stay in the running for the playoffs.

Corgi Stalker

Update: I couldn't remember when I originally posted what the dog's names were. Then the light bulb went off, they were Stinky and Nunzio.... I believe the Corgi was Nunzio. Lol

Anyone else like this show? Dharma and Greg was a comedy that was on in the 90's. I didn't start watching it till it was already cancelled and in reruns, but I liked it right away. One of my favorite aspects of the show was that they had 2 dogs. One was a shaggy dog type, and the other was a Cardigan Welsh Corgi. They were both so cute, but I especially fell for the Corgi. Ever since researching and finding that there are 2 different kinds of Corgis, I have had a yearning for a Cardigan.

I have come across a couple of blogs, whos owners have Cardigans, or breed them. I enjoy the pictures they post of their dogs. So, if you have noticed me following you, and wonder why, and you own and blog about your Cardigan, now you know why!!!!

I'm a Cardigan Welsh Corgi owner wannabee!!!!

P. S. As I look for pictures of Dharma and Greg and dogs to post, it looks to me like the dogs are not the same in the different pictures!

Christmas by the Fire

Thought I'd take a picture of my favorite tree. (I put up two) This is my "Snoopy" tree. A majority of the ornaments are Snoopy and/or Peanuts. In addition, anything with a frosted look to it. My fabulous decade, which each year has the year in a sort of ice sculpture look. My "Frosty Friends" ornaments, the eskimos with his animal friends, in igloos, snow, etc.
The tree is a 9 1/2 foot tall, slim, pre-lit that we purchased at Home Depot of all places, 3 years ago. We searched for the perfect size for this space, and an abundance of lights was also a requirement. It is a cinch to put up, assembling in about 5 minutes!

Bear Down!

I'm watching the Chicago Bears play the Green Bay Packers right now. It is a very cold night here, around 0 degrees. The fans are all bundled up in their winter finest! The amount of steam coming from their mouths is something to see. The Bears are playing with short sleeves. They are definately more man than I am!
I never was much of a football fan until my daughter went to a Big 10 school. That was 2005, when she was a freshman at University of Iowa. Then I started to watch the Iowa games on Saturday, and the Bears on Sundays. She and I would IM each other during the games, cheering them along.
I was always a baseball fan, (Cubs), since I was in grade school. But now I find baseball to be too boring and long, football is much more exciting! Go Bears!!!

Chicago

Last month my daughter and I went downtown to see Dirty Dancing. It's a pre-Broadway play that has been playing here since October. We took the train from our suburb, we live less than a mile from the station. We then walked to dinner at Harry Carrey's. On our way to dinner, we crossed the Chicago River and I took a second to snap this picture. The sun was just setting and I thought it made for a nice picture. Hope you enjoy, Chicago is a beautiful city!

Summer 2008

I was updating my Picassa software and found this picture. It was taken in August, while I was getting a tattoo at the Jimmy Buffett Concert! When I first saw this picture back then, I thought, yuk, I'm so fat.

Now that I'm looking at it a little more objectively, I see that I look a lot better than I did when I was 40 lbs. heavier, summer of 2007.

Looks like a fun day, especially since as I write this, there is a -30 degree windchill whipping around outside my window~ Brrrr!

Winter

We've been having cold, wintery weather for several weeks. Most of us are already tired of it! Once Christmas is over, I'm ready for spring! But it will probably be another long, cold winter.

One of the bright spots is that there are some pretty occurances during winter. This cardinal was perched in my Hawthorn tree in the front of the house this morning.

My Spoiled Puppy

I feel badly that I haven't posted a picture of my dog, Xena. I see all the cute dogs on other bloggers sites, and I feel I need to give Xena equal props!

Let me introduce her by telling you that I found her when she was about 10 months old. She was not a little puppy, but a young, skinny dog with a shiny, soft coat and a brown and a blue eye. She was walking around the parking lot of the school where I had just come out from my night class. I thought it was unusual for this dog to be there, alone. I left the lot, but only got about a block away before I thought I needed to go back and further investigate. She was still there, so I pulled up to her. She was towards the rear of the car, I opened my door and looked back at her. She peered at me from around the bumper, and I could tell by her face that she was friendly. I asked, "Do you want to go home with me?" and she jumped into the front seat.

I took her home, filed a police report, in case anyone was looking for her. She had a collar, but no tags. She was housebroken and gentle. Why would anyone throw this dog away? But that was what had happened. Maybe because she wasn't a cute little furball anymore. I'm sure she was a very cute puppy! But, I don't care. That was my lucky day, and I think, hers too!

That was summer of 1998. In November, we celebrated Xena's 11th birthday!

S is for Snoopy!

I am relatively new to the world of Blogging. I follow a few, and am always impressed with the workmanship that goes into them!

One of the ones I've started to follow is Menagerie. Martha does a photo contest, focusing on a subject which starts with the designated letter for that contest. She is already on the letter "S", (I've missed a lot!)

This is my entry into the contest, not because it's a particularly good picture, but because I'm a big collector of all things "Snoopy". I love dogs, and I think being a Snoopy fan just logically follows!
P. S. You can't tell from this picture, but this is just one of many, many Snoopy ornaments I have on my 9 1/2' tall Snoopy tree! I purchased this particular ornament around 1978.
