Well, not exactly Ruby, but he is red! A bunny was unlucky enough to be caught by this guy in my yard and I was lucky enough to have the fox stay and eat his meal for about 20 minutes. Plenty of time to get a bunch of photos!

Marine Days/Skywatch Friday

Marine Days celebrations were being held in the Chicago area last weekend. I live within a mile of one of the locations and tried to catch the aircraft buzzing overhead. Very impressive! Martha of Menageries suggested I post the pictures here.

On our recent trip to Georgia, we were browsing the quaint shops in Warm Springs. We came upon these wooden deer, all gussied up in red ribbons and flowers. Since I have a similar deer which I bring out at Christmas, I thought, what a good idea! Hence, the picture.

Color Carnival

Martha has started a new photo meme, "Color Carnival". Regardless of subject, the photo should be colorful. Hmm, I had to look back through my library to find this one from last summer. Ruby Tuesday

 

Cabooses are not often used at the end of a train these days. They are "unnecessary" due to the advancement of technology. The trainmen's unions argued this point, but to no avail.
There are two of these Chicago & North Western cabooses being used to make an office building/dentist office in DeKalb, Il. Unfortunately, the day I ran across this sight, I only had my cellphone camera. But still, I hope you like it as much as I do!

Unusual flower explained

Because a few of you commented on the unusual flower I used on Macro Monday, I thought I'd elaborate.

Please allow me to introduce you to my new tree! I've been looking for one of this variety for several years, but all the local nurseries seem to always be sold out. They recently opened a new, huge Menard's, which is a home improvement store. This new one has a garden center, which is where you will always find me! Looking around on Saturday, I found that they had 4 of these Red Flowering Dogwood trees. I had to have one! It is an early Mother's Day gift to me. We planted it on Sunday and that is where the interesting flowers are borne. Here are a few pictures so you can see what the tree looks like.
